Landings at the bottom of stairs
Landings are required at the bottom of a stairway. The minimum landing size is 3' out from the last step and the width of the stairway. By the way minimum stairway width is 3'. If you are installing a door at the bottom of a stairway you must have a minimum 3' away from the last step to your door.
